Notarial Fees
Michigan Notaries may charge a fee of no more than $10.00 per notarial act. Each signature being notarized is a notarial act. For example, if a signer has a three page document and each page requires their signature, what’s the charge? If the signer signs all three pages and only needs the Notary to stamp and sign once, the charge is $10.00. However, if the signer decides they need the Notary to stamp and sign all three pages, the charge is $30.00.
Notaries have the right to waive the notarial fee, if they so choose. Also, Michigan Notary Publics may REFUSE to perform a notarial act, only if their refusal is NOT based on discrimination.

Notarial Travel Fees and Other Fees
Presently, there are two notarial fees Michigan Notaries may charge, a notarial fee and a travel fee. Many Notaries perform additional services, such as Witnessing, Apostille, Permit Processing, or Administrative Services. Michigan law states that the travel fee and any other fees should be negotiated between the signer and the Notary before any travel begins. And Notaries should disclose and agree with the signer the total charge for ALL travel, notarizations and any other fees to be performed before the appointment.
